Date:2017-08-29 click:
Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted disease in the US. This infection can spread unknowingly as it has no outward symptoms in the early stage. Men and women can both get the infection, but women are more likely to be diagnosed. Sex without a condom or unprotected oral sex are the main ways a chlamydia infection can spread. Therefore, if you has unprotected sex with someone whose STD status is not certain, it is necessary to get tested for chlamydia and other STDs.

What medicine should I take if I have chlamydia infection?

Chlamydia infection is usually treated with antibiotics. The most commonly-used antibiotics for chlamydia include azithromycin, doxycycline, amoxicillin and erythromycin. Most of men will be cured effectively if they take their antibiotics correctly.

Your doctor will prescribe you with antibiotics once you test positive for chlamydia. In some cases, you will start on antibiotic treatment before you get your results if it’s very likely you have the infection.

Chlamydia will cause serious health problems if left untreated. A longer course of antibiotics may be used if your doctor is concerned about complications of chlamydia.

Except for antibiotic treatment, you may also need to take a herbal treatment if antibiotics develop drug resistance and don’t work. Herbal medicine called Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill is used for treating chlamydia in men. Its herbal formula has good effect on this infection. Besides, it won’t do any harm to the body.

What do I need to know if I get treated for chlamydia?

• Take all of the medicines your doctor prescribes even if feel better to make sure the infection is cleared up fully.

• Your current sexual partner and any other sexual partners you’ve had during the past six months also need to be tested and treated.

• Don’t have sex until you and your partner have completed the treatment and the infection is cured completely so both of you won’t be re-infected. Get tested again in 3-4 months to make sure your infection is gone.

• You can get a new chlamydia infection in the future even if you finish your treatment and the infection is cleared up. Therefore, it is necessary to use condoms every time you have sex and get tested regularly.

Will I need to go back to the clinic?

If you take your antibiotics correctly and all of your symptoms go away, you need to return to the clinic to get tested again to confirm the infection is gone.

You will also be advised to go back for another chlamydia test if your are experiencing these:

• Your symptoms don’t go away
• You didn't take the medication properly as your doctor tells you
• You had sex before you and your partner finished treatment

You should get a repeat test for chlamydia three months after finishing you treatment if you’re under the age of 25 because sexually active young people are at a higher risk of catching it again.
