What is Testicular Pain

Testicle pain is pain that occurs in or around one or both testicles. Sometimes testicle pain starts somewhere else in the groin or abdomen, and radiates into the testicles. If it becomes severe, it may greatly affect men’s life and daily activities.

The causes of testicular pain is various. Common causes are as follows:  
 
1. Injury

2. Infections like prostatitis, epididymitis, orchitis, urinary track infection. 
 
3. Testicular torsion, which is the most common cause in young men between 10 and 20 years old. It is a medical emergency that needs to be treated as soon as possible. 

Symptoms that may accompany with testicular pain include:
 
Men with testicular pain may also have other symptoms. 
 
• Nausea or vomiting
• A lump in the scrotum
• Fever
• Scrotum is warm, tender to the touch, or red
• Difficulty urinating
• Urinary frequency and urgency 
• Painful urination 
 
If the pain appears suddenly and is severe, men need immediate medical care. Call the healthcare provider right away or go to an emergency room.
 
Tests that may be performed include:
 
1. Urine test and urine culture 
2. Testing of prostate secretions
3. Ultrasound of the testicles
