Cystitis refers to inflammatory bladder lesions caused by bacterial infection and other non-bacterial infection factors such as drugs, foreign bodies, stones, etc. It is mainly manifested as the frequency of urination, urgency of urination, pain in urination, or pain in the bladder area. The overall incidence of cystitis is high, accounting for more than 60 percent of urinary tract infections, and women are more likely to suffer from cystitis than men.

Why are women more likely to get cystitis?

1. Female urethra is short and wide, close to the vagina and anus, and easy to be invaded by vaginal secretions and stool pathogens, leading to urinary tract retrograde infection and causing cystitis.

2. Women of childbearing age basically have menstruation every month. Menstrual blood is a good medium for bacteria. And the menstrual period of women's resistance will decline. In general, a small amount of bacterial infection urinary tract may not come on, but it is easy to come on in the menstrual period.

3. After menopause, older women will have atrophy of vaginal and urethral mucosa, and the urethra's barrier role against pathogen invasion will be weakened, so they are prone to recurrent cystitis.

How to judge if women have cystitis?

1. Frequency of urination, the urgency of urination, urination pain: urethral stimulation appears sudden urination pain, urethral burning sensation, and dare not urinate. The occurrence of frequent urination symptoms is in day and night. More seriously, after a few minutes of urination, urination still has the desire to urine. Repeated inflammation can cause pain in the suprapubic bladder area but rarely tenderness in the lower back.

2. Changes in urine color: inflammation causes changes in urine, yellowing in color, purulent secretions at the ureter opening, cloudy urine, and pain during urination will interrupt urination.

How should females with cystitis be treated?

Antibiotics therapy

Clinical drug therapy is the most basic treatment method. The bacteria that often cause female cystitis are Escherichia coli, grape globule epidermis, proteus, etc. These bacteria are sensitive to siliconeone antibiotics, so ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin can be used for treatment simultaneously.

Surgical treatment

Surgical treatment is generally for patients with more severe cystitis, such as chronic cystitis. If cystitis is more serious, simply relying on drugs is slow, and the effect of treatment of cystitis is not necessarily ideal, so doctors will advise using a laser to eliminate the inflammation of the bladder. Cystitis is the way that takes laser operation to undertake treatment more, and the risk of the operation is low.

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment

Traditional Chinese medicine also has the effect of treating cystitis. In the inflammatory bladder area, doctors will suggest puncture drainage. They can adopt the method of acupuncture and moxibustion. Besides, herbal medicine named Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory pills can help people get a complete cure. It can alleviate symptoms of urinary frequency, urgency, frequent urination, and so on, thus making cystitis recovery as soon as possible. And women will not worry about the harmful side effects.
