Epididymitis belongs to the category of traditional Chinese medicine such as "zi yong" and "testicular deviation", and its pathogenesis is mainly due to warm and hot stagnation, qi stagnation and blood stasis, and cold phlegm condensation.

Therefore, traditional Chinese medicine mainly follows the principles of clearing heat and promoting diuresis, regulating qi and activating blood, reducing swelling and relieving pain, and warming and dispersing cold condensation in the treatment.

The following methods are commonly used in clinical practice:

1. Oral administration

Patients can take Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill orally. It comprises more than 50 ingredients, such as plantain seed, dianthus superbus, Polygonum aviculare, safflower, peach kernel, and the seed of cowherb, with a reasonable combination of formulas. The use of detoxifying drugs has wholly achieved the effect of broad-spectrum antibiotics in Western medicine and can effectively kill various pathogenic bacteria that cause epididymitis and eliminate inflammation.

Moreover, it also has the effects of clearing heat and detoxification, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain, anti-proliferation, anti-fibrosis, and anti-calcification, which can have a good impact on epididymitis.

2. External application

External application of safflower and Scutellaria baicalensis powder, which has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, can relieve local swelling and pain symptoms of epididymitis patients. The formula consists of 6g of croton, 5g of Chuan Lian, 5g of safflower, 5g of turmeric, 5g of Scutellaria baicalensis, and 3g of cinnabar. The above drugs should be ground into a fine powder and mixed with honey to form a paste, then applied to the epididymis once a day.

3. Fumigation and washing method

Composition of the prescription: 15g of rhubarb, 15g of yuanhu, 15g of ze lan, 12g of huangbai, 12g of lychee kernel, 12g of soapberry thorn, and 10g of pangolin scales. Soak the above drugs in appropriate water for half an hour, then simmer over low heat for half an hour. Pour the cooked medicinal liquid into a suitable basin. First use the medicinal steam to fumigate the scrotum, and when the medicinal liquid is warm, immerse the scrotum completely in the medicinal liquid for 15 minutes. Fumigate and wash twice a day, continuously for 10-25 days.

4. Diet therapy

Chrysanthemum eggplant soup promotes blood circulation, reduces swelling, clears heat, and relieves pain, which can assist in treating epididymitis. The specific method is: to boil 40g of Hangjuhua with water, remove the residue, and take the juice, then stir-fry the eggplant and seasoning together with vegetable oil until cooked, and add chrysanthemum juice. Eat once a day.

Fishy-smelling herbs mixed with radish has the effect of clearing heat and detoxifying, which can assist in the treatment of epididymitis. Prepare appropriate amounts of Houttuynia cordata, radish, and seasonings. The specific method is to wash and cut the Houttuynia cordata and radish into sections; wash and shred the ginger; wash and dice the garlic; wash and dice the white part of the scallion. Put the Houttuynia cordata and radish into a dish, add the shredded ginger, diced garlic, sesame oil, vinegar, soy sauce, and chicken essence, mix well, and take 2 doses daily.

The above is the traditional Chinese medicine method for treating epididymitis to achieve better treatment results. Patients can use internal medication and other therapies in combination. However, it is important to note that regardless of the treatment method, it should be carried out after consultation with a doctor and not self-treated to avoid adverse effects.
